When looking at a birth chart, the ecliptic is represented as the “wheel” you’d see and ALL signs appear on this wheel. The 12 constellations (or zodiacs) fill this wheel that then assigns 30 degrees to each sign (30 x 12 = 360 degrees). The constellations (aka signs) begin with Aries at the Vernal Equinox. The remaining 11 constellations then follow in order. She came to me seeking a place to go that gave her some peace after many years of turmoil. She had somewhat recently temporarily relocated to just outside of Asheville, NC. When we pulled up her astrocartography map, we found that Mars was sitting on her IC. Her natal Mars sits in Gemini and retrograde. As we spoke, I mentioned it was likely that while there she was likely perpetually working through a lot of shadow work and questioning “why” she acted the way she did related to her upbringing, especially since her North Node moved into her relocated chart’s 8th house. She then revealed that she was working with a healer 3x per week to do just that. While helpful, living on a Mars line can be exhausting and in her case, probably mentally exhausting constantly ruminating on these core parts of herself. The angles are determined by the birth information because the AC is the degree/sign of the constellation that is rising in the East at the time of birth. The MC is the highest point in the sky, the DC is the point in the constellation setting in the West, and the IC is the unseen point on the other side of Earth. In the Placidus system (as shown), the AC is the beginning of the 1st house, the IC is the beginning of the 4th house, the DC is the beginning of the 7th house, and the MC is the beginning of the 10th house. The angles change due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis and will vary based on the time of year and the location. The position of each planet is calculated based on the location relative to the earth’s seasons, with the equinox beginning in Aries. You can see here in this chart, Uranus (♅) sits on the AC.
